Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must normally be aged 18 or over, unless a specific opportunity is delivered through an approved educational, placement or supervised programme.

Unless a specific opportunity states otherwise, applicants should normally meet the following criteria:

  • be based in the United Kingdom
  • be a designer, artist, creative practitioner or cultural worker
  • be able to show evidence of creative practice, project activity or professional intention
  • be able to provide examples of work, portfolio material or a clear proposal
  • be willing to engage respectfully and professionally with The Space by AZM CIC
  • support the values of fairness, inclusion, respect, accountability and creative integrity
  • provide accurate information in the application process
  • have the right to submit the materials included in the application

The Space by AZM CIC may consider applications from :

  • fashion designers
  • visual artists
  • painters
  • sculptors
  • photographers
  • filmmakers
  • performers
  • dancers
  • musicians
  • sound artists
  • textile artists
  • makers
  • craft-led creatives
  • curators
  • stylists
  • art directors
  • creative producers
  • interdisciplinary practitioners
  • creative collectives
  • community-led creative projects

This list is not exhaustive. Applicants working across disciplines may also be considered.

 

 

Priority Consideration

Where resources are limited, The Space by AZM CIC may prioritise applicants or projects that demonstrate one or more of the following :

  • strong creative potential
  • clear artistic or cultural value
  • limited access to existing networks or opportunities
  • underrepresentation within the creative or cultural sector
  • financial, structural or professional barriers to participation
  • community benefit or wider public value
  • readiness to benefit from the opportunity
  • alignment with the Company’s mission and programme aims

Priority consideration does not guarantee selection.

What May Not Be Eligible
The Space by AZM CIC may decline applications that :

  • are incomplete or unclear
  • fall outside the stated eligibility criteria
  • are not connected to creative or cultural practice
  • involve unlawful, discriminatory, exploitative or harmful activity
  • raise safeguarding, ethical, reputational or governance concerns
  • rely on materials the applicant does not have permission to use
  • are not practically deliverable within the available resources
  • do not align with the Company’s community-interest purpose

Selection and Decision-Making
Applications may be reviewed by the director, advisers, assessors, partners, curators, mentors or other appropriate individuals acting for or with
The Space by AZM CIC.

Selection may consider :

  • eligibility
  • quality of work
  • clarity of proposal
  • originality
  • potential impact
  • feasibility
  • programme fit
  • public benefit
  • available resources
  • diversity of disciplines and perspectives
  • ethical, safeguarding and governance considerations

The Space by AZM CIC aims to make decisions fairly, responsibly and in line with its mission and governance principles.

Conflicts of Interest
Any person involved in reviewing or selecting applicants should declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest.
Where appropriate, a person with a conflict may be excluded from discussion, assessment or decision-making relating to that application.

Payments, Expenses and Support
Where payments, expenses, stipends, grants, commissions, fees or subsidised support are available, this will be explained in connection with the relevant opportunity.
Not all opportunities will include payment or funding.
Where expenses or financial support are available, conditions may apply and evidence may be requested.

Sponsorship, Donations and Grants
Sponsorship, donations and grants received by The Space by AZM CIC will be used to support the Company’s mission, operations, programmes and community-benefit work.
Funding may be restricted or unrestricted depending on the source and conditions attached.
The Space by AZM CIC reserves the right to decline funding, sponsorship or partnership where it may conflict with the Company’s values, mission, governance principles or community-interest purpose.

Changes to Opportunities
The Space by AZM CIC may amend, postpone, pause, cancel or adapt opportunities where necessary.
This may happen because of funding, venue availability, partner requirements, safeguarding, governance, operational capacity or other practical considerations.

Applicant Responsibility
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that information submitted is accurate and that they have permission to share any work, images, videos, music, written materials, personal data or third-party content included in their application.
